Darnell's NBUS Challenge #8

Welcome back! How have you all been? You know it's nearly 2 years since I started my blog. February 2015 to be precise. I've learnt a lot since then and I'd like to think my card making and blogging has improved.... I hope anyway!

Two years is nothing compared to Darnell who has racked up 5 years, 1,000 blog posts and 1,000 followers. Amazing huh? So to celebrate she has opened up her NBUS challenge which I love to enter. I have plenty of NBUS so it really helps me....

This cute Birdie Brown stamp was part of the My Favorite Things gift card I won and spent back in October. These are just perfect to colour in. I simply stamped her onto some Neenah and coloured her in with my Copic markers.

If you read my post from last week, you'll see I'm still in melonizing mode and coloured her in appropriate colours - avoided the pips on the hat though as I was worried I might ruin it.

She's simply mounted on an A2 white card base with an MFT stitched frame (from a friend) in one of my Lawn Fawn plaid papers.

Melonizing with Krumspring Stamps - VIDEO

Hi Everybody! Did you get lots of snow during the week? We've had a few hours, but thankfully it has all gone. I have two disappointed small children, but I'm not!

I've a video for you today sharing my Melon card. If you don't know what melonizing is, it's a brilliant challenge that my friend Dani started over on Instagram. All you have to do is colour something like a melon. Simple and yet really addictive!

I started by stamping the background stamp using my Precision Press. I love this stamp. It's from a new company called Krumspring Stamps based in Denmark and set up by Maria who loves to draw and colour in triangles. It is hugely therapeutic!

It reminds me of a stained glass window and I marked out and coloured in two watermelons with my Copic markers. I then added some details in with my Copic Multiliner for the seeds.

To finish, I trimmed the panel then mounted it onto a green card base. I trimmed an A2 card base down to fit. I added the sentiment in Ranger Dye Inks with a little Avery Elle alphabet set and die cut with a new tiny speech bubble set that a friend sent me for my birthday. Some sequins finished it off nicely.

We R Memory Keepers Precision Press Review - VIDEO

Hello there! Today I have a video to share of a new toy I received for Christmas. It's the We R Memory Keepers Precision Press. 

Now I know I have a mini MISTI, and I like it, but, it has things that frustrate me (the magnets!) and I have background stamps that won't fit into it. 

I've tried it out a few times and I really like it. I find it works really well and I like the moveable hinges - much like the Letterpress it is based on that I used to use before I bought the MISTI.

Slightly fuzzy, but you can tell that there is room for the hinges to move. You can also see one of the two sides that is open - another great thing if you have odd sized paper or do memory keeping on 12x12 papers. 

 
It has a little bit of foam in the corner to make sure it sits fully when the lid is down. It has a nice thick piece of acrylic on the top too.

I'll definitely be using it alongside the mini MISTI and I hope you'll find the video useful if you are undecided. I'm still experimenting with my new video arm, and working out how to get things in shot better, but thankfully my camera is fine - it just needed a new charger. Phew!

Flower Challenge #4

Happy New Year! It's now 2017 and at the Flower Challenge this month, we are getting of to a nice challenging start and are asking you to make a card using BLUE and YELLOW.

  I've made a card with NO stamping and NO colouring - I mean, seriously, that is really rare for me, but I am super happy with how it turned out.

I started by cutting some coloured card bases, one in blue and one in yellow. I then cut a panel from blue and yellow card stock using my MFT Floral Fusion Cover Up Die.

It was simple to attach the panel to the front of the card base and then I decided to get busy and add some embellishment with my new enamel accents. It started out small and then grew, but I rather like the Aboriginal Art look with all the dots. I finished it with a simple sentiment from CB Many Mini Messages.

My eldest daughter (aged 5) helped me make these and she got her own to add enamel accents to one too. She is a huge fan of pink and so that had to be added, but I was amazed at how well it worked. She loves card making and that's what we will be doing for her birthday in a few weeks.
