Happy Hallowe'en

I generally don't make Hallowe'en cards, but just before we moved house, this super cute set came out from Sugar Pea Designs and I couldn't resist. I've made 5 cards with it, but I'm showing you these three.

I Copic coloured all the images and fussy cut them out. I just had to have this set when I saw that cheery looking Dracula - I mean, he's not that cheery in the films unless he's just eaten. What a guy!

The backgrounds for Frankenstein and the Mummy are made with a new stamp set (I'll have a haul and craft room tour in one coming up on my YouTube channel soon!) from Uniko. I have ordered from them before, but I met them at the last stamp show I went to in Doncaster a couple of weeks ago and they are so lovely and had some new things I couldn't resist. With Frank I used some LilyPad Ranger ink and I heat embossed Mummy with WOW! White Bright EP.

With Count (remember Count Duckula? I loved that show!) I masked off a rectangle on the front of a red card base and splattered on white gouache, red and clear sparkle pen. I adhered all of them with foam tape and just added a simple sentiment at the bottom.

You Quack Me Up! - Sugar Pea Mix It Up Challenge #3

Hi Everyone! Thank you so much for all your lovely comments on my blog hop post. If you didn't manage to hop, you still can. And if you downloaded Jeanin's Forest Friends, there's now a link on her blog to upload your creations.

There's a new kind of challenge over at the Sugar Pea Designs Blog, and to keep myself amused while I'm waiting for the latest release, I've been playing with the last one and the cute little ducks. The weather outside has helped - it's been wet enough for them!

 
The Mix It Up Challenge gives you the option to use the sketch, or the inspiration on the other side, or mix and match, which I decided to do.

I started out by taking a 4.25 x 5.5 piece of water colour card and stamping the ducks where the circles were on the sketch in Archival ink. I then went with some wet on wet watercolouring with my Winsor and Newton Cotman watercolours. You wet the paper, and let the colours flow freely, so it gives it a sort of messy look which I quite like.

I dried them off with my heat gun and then did some partial die cutting with my stitched circles and cut the rest of the panel down with my craft knife.

I took a piece of Lawn Fawn paper and made an A2 card base (I use American sizes in case anyone is wondering! UK A2 is huge!) and on the front stamped the bullrushes and lilypads in a random pattern using Hero Arts Soft Pool. 

I then took some fun foam and cut it out to fit my watercolour panel and attached it with double sided tape. The ATG doesn't work well on the foam. 

I then stamped the sentiment on a scrap piece of watercolour card with my new Altenew Crimson ink (am loving these!) - it matches the inspiration perfectly - and attached it with the ATG.

Hello Sunshine - CASology Challenge Week 201

Hi there! I posted a picture of a card I made on IG and the Sugar Pea Facebook Group and was told it was perfect for this week's CASology challenge, so I've turned it into a blog post to enter - got to be in it to win it!

Guess what the challenge is this week? Sunshine.... Here's the card :)

I think that's sunny enough, don't you? Apologies for the photos, it was an extremely dull day today.

I started by taking a white A2 card base and covering the front with a panel from my Sugar Pea Paper Pad. I then took a coordinating piece of yellow felt (you knew that was coming!) and put some Stick It! on the back. I found that die cutting without something firm on the back made my thin word dies tear a little when I took them out. This stops that and it means you can stick it onto the card without any glue. What's even better is that it is repositionable for a while, making it easier to stick down. I then die cut the word sunshine from my WPlus9 Sunshine Layers die set.

Once the word was stuck down, I added a little Hello from my CB Many Mini Messages in Ranger Lemon Twist with foam pads, and then some yellow enamel dots.

Sunny and simple!

Dance Like No One is Watching - Sugar Pea Designs

Hello! How are things going with you all mid week? Today I'm sharing a card with you that I made for a very kind crafty friend's birthday. She loves pigs and I have one set, which I use a lot, that has a very cute picture of a dancing pig in it. I think you might recognise it!

I felt like doing a bit of water colouring and paper piecing, and came up with this:

I took a square piece of water colour card stock and stamped the image of the dancing pig into the centre of it, in archival ink. I used the dies I wanted to use as a frame as a guide. I then made a mask of the pig and covered the image.

I picked three nice pinks from my Spectrum Aqua markers and gave the panel a splotchy water colour wash. I then gave it a nice splattering of the deepest pinks and also with my Pink Champagne Spectrum Sparkle pen.

I die cut out the frame with my SSS stitched squares, and die cut 4 other frames from plain white card stock to build up the frame - I am out of foam tape. I then stamped the image onto some Lawn Fawn Let's Polka paper scrap that I had and cut out the tiara, tutu and shoes and glued them onto the pig.

I stamped the sentiment in archival ink onto the bottom of the top frame, before gluing it on top of the other 4, then onto a 3.75 x 3.75 inch card blank. I then adhered the pig into the centre.

I hand wrote 'Dance Like No One is Watching' on the inside - I could do with working on my lettering, but it looked neat :)
