Greeks bearing gifts....

Hi Everyone, how are you all? We've been enjoying time together as the Easter Holidays wind down. It's been nice to have both kiddies together all day, but very tiring!

I have a project to share with you that I finished a couple of weeks ago and sent to a crafty IG friend who had very kindly sent me the Greek alphabet set. It's no longer in stock at Clear and Simple who came up with it, but I am very pleased to have got hold of it, as my first degree was in Ancient Greek, with a bit of Latin thrown in.

In my recent clear out I discovered an image I had copied from a tiny little picture in one of my recorder books (yes I play those too!) way back at Uni. I thought it would be perfect to copy again and this time colour in with Copics.

I started by tracing the image onto some Neenah card stock. I then went over it with my Copic Multiliner. I sat and looked at it for a long time and left it a couple of days because the last thing I wanted to do was start colouring and then ruin it.

When I came back to it, I decided to go with mostly greys with a touch of colour for the ribbon in her hair and around her top, as well as browns for the chair. I mounted it onto some mount board to give it some added strength.

The card to go with the gift is made using all the letters of the Greek alphabet stamped using Ranger Lemon Twist onto a piece of yellow Lawn Fawn cardstock. I stamped the sentiment (it says 'Thank You' in modern Greek) in Ranger Grape Soda, using my Letterpress as a stamping tool, onto a piece of Neenah and added the accent with a Copic marker.

I adhered the yellow panel to a purple A2 card base and attached the sentiment on top, finishing it off with a few sequins.

Below is a list of what I used to make this card and where I purchased them. Please note I DO NOT USE affiliate links :)

It's been nice to revisit my Uni days, and remember what I loved about Greek. Do enjoy the rest of the week and the weekend, and thank you for taking the time to visit :)

The image is really special, and a lovely gift for someone. I love the muted colour palette, it is perfect for a greek picture. And such soft colouring, gorgeous! Really like the card too, so unique and what is not to love about purple and yellow! You have reminded me to re-read my favourite greek play - Medea. Blew my mind the first time I read it, what a woman! Saw a theatre production of it too that was incredible. Anyway I am rambling....have a good day! Xx
