Hi Everyone! I'm back on the blog with a card using felt - really it's becoming a bit of an addiction, and one I'm not unhappy about having :). I've also a video to share with you as I had to show you how easy it was to make a totally different background for your card. You get to see my lovely red sewing machine!
I loved my embossed felt background loads, but I wanted to try something else, and chose to sew a wavy pattern onto my felt to depict the sea to go with this super cute Lawn Fawn mermaid set - I'm so happy to have a narwhal!
I started with a 4x5.25 inch piece of felt and simply sewed wavy lines using some nice Gutermann metallic threads.
After adhering it to an A2 card base with double sided tape, I adhered the mermaid, narwhal, shoal of fish and sentiment on with some foam pads.
I felt it was still lacking something so added in the sequins from Lucy's Shop for extra sparkle and to look like bubbles under the sea.
You can see the full video on my YT channel:
I loved this so much, I made three cards with this background. I'm so excited about rediscovering my love of sewing - I have Mary Dawn Quiringo to thank for that really and if you have a look at her IG feed you'll see what she's been up to (@mypinkmexico) - and especially that I can link it up with my love of making cards.
I'm also linking this up to the latest Seven Hills Crafts Monthly Challenge which is a sketch this month.

Great card and very well done on the video. Love that you move along and dont spend ages describing things. Sometimes it drives me nuts watching someones hands moving as they are describng something but nothing is happening on the screnn, its like come onnnnnn. Love your accent. Beautiful card with the felt and sewing.
What a lovely card! Nothing better than being able to incorporate a hobby into another! So happy for you! The video was awesome - clear instructions, perfect speed, great voice over. Love it!
Fab idea to make an embroidered background! Love the little underwater scene you created. Cara x
Super design Ruth, fantastic use of the felt too and the colour combo is perfection. Aren't those Lawn stamps adorable...I love them so much lol. Another super video, I really enjoy your videos sweetie.

Love, love, love that you sewed on the felt for the waves. What a creative twist!
Such a cute card, I love the sewing on the felt to form the waves - very creative! And doing it with two colours is a great idea, adds some contrast. Those little mermaids are adorable and your colouring is lovely on them - I was very lucky to have some images sent to me and I totally love that narwhal! Very sweet card and I don't blame you for making three! xx
Not sure what took me so look visiting you, but here I am.
Love the way you incorporated the felt and the stitchiing on your card. And well done on the video!
