Magazine Makes #5 - Quick and Simple Christmas Cards - VIDEO

Y'know, this time last year I hadn't started my Christmas cards and this year I have 29 already. And I'm less stressed! I've gone with fairly simple designs this time round. It saves on the stress levels, plus you can make multiples with much more ease.

I made a similar card like this for a friend last year as I know she loves buttons. She asked if I could make her some more this year, so of course I said yes!

I'm using a stamp from Cardmaking Essentials from last Christmas [sorry no link!], and I love the quirkiness of the stamp. I stamped it in Versamark using my mini MISTI (definitely great for multiple cards) and heat embossed with white Wow! embossing powder. The card blanks are from Hobbycraft as are the buttons, which are adhered with glue dots.

I've made 10 for her and am ready to make more if she wants them and if not, I have enough supplies for me as well!!

I have a video to share of how I made them all and you can find it on my YouTube channel or watch below:

Here is a list of supplies used for these cards. Please note I DO NOT USE AFFILIATE LINKS.

I've also got some news for you. My lovely friend Aileen has set up a new challenge and I'm privileged to be on the design team. It's called the Flower Challenge and will start next week on 4th October. Pop on over to the blog to have a look, and here's a sneak peak of my card ;)

Keeping it simple with Christmas cards is definitely the way forward if you are making a lot, as well as starting much earlier than you think you need to. For good videos on mass production, please see Steph's You Tube channel, and for a great blog post on Christmas card making, have a read of Lisa's great and funny post :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and watch and I hope you feel inspired to make some Christmas cards too.

Slider Shaker Card - Seven HIlls Crafts Monthly Craft Challenge

Hello All! Well, I've been a busy bee tidying up my craft room to try to find some missing mojo, and I think I found it, so I'm using it to enter the Seven Hills Crafts Monthly Craft Challenge. With about 12 hours to go, Aileen would be so proud!

I got some new products only on Friday from Seven Hills - some slider elements and slider dies. I've been wanting to try out a pull slider for a  while and now seemed as good a time as any.

After watching a few YT videos (I found Nichol's very helpful), I gave it a go. I started with a panel of Neenah and cut out my little circles and the slider elemnt. I had pre coloured (Copics) and cut out the ship some time ago. I then took a piece of scrap Neenah I found in my stash, I measured it to make sure I wouldn't see it through the circles (port holes I like to call them!). I then took two of the slider elements and stuck them onto the pull tab and placed them into the slider. I attached the ship on top - I can't tell you how excited I was that it worked!!!

I stamped the sentiment on to the pull tab and wrote PULL on the end - here's a close up.

I then made a shaker pocket with my Fuse tool around a piece of card I'd watercoloured during the last 30 Day Colouring Challenge. I added my octopus and two shoals of fish and a whole pile of sequins before closing it up.

I then stuck a whole pile of sticky pads to the back of the panel, with some placed close to the slider tab so it was held in place, but not too much otherwise it wouldn't slide.

I stuck it down onto the shaker piece and then stuck it all on top of a top folding A2 (US) card. It shakes and it slides!

Here's a close up of the shaker element, and you have to tell me the recent film I was inspired by. I saw it in the summer with my eldest and LOVED it - I'll tell you underneath.

It was Finding Dory - can you see the clown fish (Marlin and Nemo), the blue tangs (Dory) and Hank, the grumpy octopus (or septapod as we discover, and which funnily enough this stamp is too!)?

I'm off to link it up to the challenge, and also to Pixie's Snippets Playground as I used loads of bits I had lying around - from previous coloured images to scrap Neenah.

Thanks as always for reading and I hope you have a great week!

Show Your Face - a last hurrah!

Hi Everyone! We seem to be having a bit of an Indian Summer here in the UK as it's been quite warm this week - typical as we start back at school next week!

I wanted to blog this to say a fond farewell to Kim Dellow's Show Your Face blog posts. She's been running these for a year now and I've enjoyed seeing all her different faces and even had a go myself. The challenge for July was to do a quick draw, and so one day whilst waiting for potatoes to boil (my life is very exciting!), I got three little bits of scrap card and my Pitt artist's pen and just drew.

Now I am no artist. There is a reason I stamp and colour, but I am rather pleased with how these turned out. I was waiting to find a nice frame with three apertures to put them in before I blogged. I drew a blank and put them aside and then of course holidays and all happened, so I am only sharing them now.

I was inspired by the elements of earth, wind and sea and despite them bearing a passing resemblance to elder statesmen of UK politics (Michael Heseltine anyone?), I'm rather proud of just sitting down and having a go.

Here they are in close up:

I'm glad I came across Kim's blog. I visit regularly and she now has a fabulous feature called 'Art Slice' on her You Tube channel which you should all check out for some inspiration.

I hope Kim won't mind me linking this up to this week's post as I missed the link up for July.

Have a fabulous weekend! Thanks for stopping by :)
