Happy New Year! It's now 2017 and at the Flower Challenge this month, we are getting of to a nice challenging start and are asking you to make a card using BLUE and YELLOW.
I've made a card with NO stamping and NO colouring - I mean, seriously, that is really rare for me, but I am super happy with how it turned out.
I started by cutting some coloured card bases, one in blue and one in yellow. I then cut a panel from blue and yellow card stock using my MFT Floral Fusion Cover Up Die.
It was simple to attach the panel to the front of the card base and then I decided to get busy and add some embellishment with my new enamel accents. It started out small and then grew, but I rather like the Aboriginal Art look with all the dots. I finished it with a simple sentiment from CB Many Mini Messages.
My eldest daughter (aged 5) helped me make these and she got her own to add enamel accents to one too. She is a huge fan of pink and so that had to be added, but I was amazed at how well it worked. She loves card making and that's what we will be doing for her birthday in a few weeks.
So there you go. Are you up for it? I know you are! Let's start 2017 with a bang and get some colour going! Head over to the Flower Challenge Blog and add your card!
Here is a list of the supplies used on this card. I have signed up to affiliate links on some products (currently only Simon Says Stamp). If you purchase any item after clicking on an affiliate link, I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps in a small way to support the running of my blog and is very much appreciated, thank you!
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog. Wishing you all the best for 2017!

All the best for 2017 to you and your family Ruth, just love the contrast of the blue with yellow as its so distinctive and fresh. Your daughter as definitely got the same artistic flare too, so pretty. Hugs xx
Hello Ruth: I adore this die, it's so intricate and delicate at the same time and your addition of the enamel dots just takes it to a new level.
I've been meaning to buy this product and you just gave me the little nudge I needed, it looks amazing on both your cards.
Big Hugs,
Maria.
Fantastic cards Ruth, love this die. Cant decide which card I like the best both colour combinations are great.
Love dies like this as there are so many different ways to use them and cant wait to see more from you with it (have you ever used as a stencil??). Have to check this die out at MFT add to me never ending list of what I need (want!!)
Fabulous cards, Ruth! The enamel accents adds such a wonderful element but with no bulk. Gorgeous die, too!
This is sooo gorgeous Ruth! how clever to use a die like that all over the card. Such a pretty die it is too, love how you did it in blue and then added the yellow base below. Fab card your talented daughter made also, she will be pinching your craft stuff all the time now lol ;) hugs Viv xx
