Hi Everyone, How are you all getting on mid week? I'm ignoring the damp grey weather and remembering last week's sun.
I'm on a felt kick still. You all know I love a bit of paper piecing, and so I decided it was time to try this with felt. I've gone super CAS on this card, using one of the birds from my Clearly Besotted Some Birdie Loves You set, principally because I told Lisa I would use it some time soon (Lisa has a blog now - My Card Trip - so you can see her beautiful creations there as well as on IG - she's amazing with florals!).
I started by stamping the bird onto a piece of red and yellow felt in Memento Tuxedo Black. I then heat set it using a warm iron - put a piece of kitchen towel on top - before adding Stick It! on the back.
I took an A2 white card and stamped my images on it using my Mini MISTI, as the branch was a separate stamp and I wanted the bird lined up exactly.
I then fussy cut out the bird from red felt, cutting out the beak and the little end bits on the tail feathers and wing. I fussy cut these from the yellow felt. I then had the fiddly task of sticking the pieces on the blank image on my card. I used my fabric scissors for the fussy cutting.
The Stick It! made it easier for cutting, but not sticking, possibly because I hadn't die cut it, and so it hadn't been pressed firmly into a shape. It pulled a little on the felt when I took the backing paper off, removing the sticky stuff, and so I had to resort to Multi Medium Matte in a couple of places.
I then coloured in the branch with my Polychromos pencils. Here's a little close up.

I love how this came out, and I was so happy with the work put in with all those fiddly bits, I decided to leave it CAS as I was worried about ruining it.
I'm linking this up to Squirrel's Random Challenge which is all about wild things.
Thank you so much for visiting today and I hope I've inspired you to try something different. Have a good one!

Wow, suoer CAS indeed. Wish I could feel the soft texture.
It is very CAS, something I struggle with. You were brave to try and fussy cut the felt and "felt piece" it, but it worked! And very well too. You can't see any of the problems you mentioned about the Stick It! not really working in this instance either. And I like that you did the branch in pencils, as it gives a good contrast to the felt. Also can you imagine fussy cutting that bit of felt!!!! Great card xx
This is brilliant - you must have some amount of patience! Dont think I could deal with felt that size!
Damp and grey here too, Liz x
Love the idea of using for this, but you have more patience than I do! Cara x
This is fabulous, Ruth. I love how you have made the bird from felt. What a great idea! xx
